Activity: Heritage Trail along Peranakan Museum, Arts Museum and Armenian Church. The Sec 2s have will serve as tour guides over these heritage sites and have prepared some games for the Sec 1s, as assessment for heritage badge.
Start Point: Anderson Secondary; End Point: Bras Basah MRT

Things to bring: Consent form for heritage trail and consent forms you have not submitted, umbrella in case of rain, writing materials.
Please also bring your bags and all belongings as the end point and dismissal for tomorrow GM is at Bras Brash MRT station around 3.30pm.

Sec 2s please also submit your heritage project and photocopy the following 2 items on your report slip:

1. Your SA1 and SA2 report slip (in one page for application of handyman, Artist and homecaft badge if your Art, DnT and Home Econs final examination marks are at least 60%).
2. Your Napfa Test results if you have 2 years of at least Silver. This is to apply for Physical Fitness Badge (You don't have to photocopy if you don't satisfy this criteria).

2015 South-East Asian Games

In 2015, Singapore will be hosting the 28^th South-East Asia Games (SEA Games) from 31^st May to 15^th June. St. John Brigade has been invited by Ministry of Health (MOH) to provide medical coverage for this event which is led by the Singapore Sports Council.

Date: 31 May 2015 - 15 June 2015

Only Sec2s are eligible for this FA Duty. 

Photo requirement:

—  All photos must be 512 x 400 pixels in .jpg/.jpeg file format with 300dpi resolution (save file as<Name as in NRIC – NRIC No.jpg);

—  Image size must be less than 100 KB;

—  Image should be taken without wearing any hat or other head covering, unless you habitually wear a hat or head covering in accordance with your religious or racial custom. If any such hat or head covering is worn, the photograph must still be a full frontal view of your head and shoulders, showing your facial features in entirety with eyes open and clearly visible;

—  If you wear glasses, the photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses. The frames shall not cover any part of your eyes. Tinted glasses and sunglasses are not allowed;

—  The photograph must show you alone with no chair back, toys or other persons visible

 SSC Guidelines for First Aider commitment:

—  Minimum 7 days commitment

—  3 days consecutive

—  Working Hours: 6 - 12 Hours

—  Up to 48 hours per week

—  Typical Work Hours between 8am to 11pm

      *(Meals & Uniform are provided!!!)

—  Minimum 45 minutes rest for every 8 hours

Update on SJAB Day & Monday's GM

Dear cadets,

St John Day is traditionally celebrated on the first Wednesday of Term 3, however due to the fact that Wednesday will have no assembly because of CI period, this year's St John Day will be pushed to Thursday (3/7/2014).

Hence, please note that St John Day will not be on Tuesday anymore due to NCC Day and as such St John Day will be changed to Thursday.

Lastly, Monday's GM will end at 5 PM so take note of that.

National Competition Zone Organised Comp Training Sunday 29 Jun

Dear Cadets involved in the National Competition,

The adult zone officers have kindly volunteered to take time off their weekends to prepare you for the National Competition on 13 July 2014. There will be trainings on the following dates:

29 June 2014 (Sunday) 10am to 5pm
5 July 2014 (Saturday) 10am to 5pm
6 July 2014 (Sunday) 10am to 5pm

The venue will be in SJAB HQ. The attire will be drill order with white SJAB T shirt. Please bring along your first aid manual, water bottle, money for lunch and writing manuals. Attendance is compulsory.

Please also take note of the following instructions from HQ:

• All 5 members of the original team must take part in the competition. Any change of members would require prior approval from the Zone department.
• If the team is unwilling to participate in the Nat Com 2014, the team will forfeit their winning in the Zone competition, as reflected in the rules and regulations for Zone FACom 2014.
• If the Zone training department deem the members unfit to participate in NatCom, an alternative team from another school would be chosen to represent the Zone instead.

Change Of Attire For National Competition Training

On 23 June 2014, attire has been changed to Half Uniform. This includes your headdress. Gloves are not required.

As for 24 June 2014, attire has been changed to Full Brigade for training. Gloves and CPBS badges are not required.

The reason for this change is that International St John Day falls on 24 June 2014 and as such, we will be wearing our full uniform to commemorate this occasion. The school St John Day commemoration will be on 1 July 2014 (1st Tuesday when school re-opens).

Instruction for trainees:
1. Booking in and booking out attire is half uniform without headdress
2. Bring the following:

• Writing materials
• 1.5litre water bottle
• Student pass
• Money for lunch
• PT Kit (Corp tee + ANDSS PE Pants + School/Sports Shoes with Black socks)

3. Uniform is to be up to standard at all times when worn
4. During the course, remember to switch off the classroom lights and fans when the last person leaves the classroom
5. Request to join the Facebook group "SJAB Zone 3 NCOC" from Tuesday onwards in order to have access to course instructions and course notes
6. Trainees are advised to take good care of their health, have at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep, hydrate frequently and prepare adequately throughout the course.

Please keep the 2 days free as you have to wait another year if you miss the course this round. Attendance is compulsory as these badges are part of the 12 badges you need to qualify for the Chief Commissioners Badge in Sec 4 (5 CCA points).

KOTO Re-Test 26 May 2014 2.50pm to 3.30pm in And.Art

Dear Sec 2s and 3s who failed the KOTO Test in March,

Please sit for the Re-Test on Week 10 26 May Monday 2.50pm to 3.30pm. The venue will be And.Art Computer lab, next to 2/1 classroom. Please meet at the computer lab punctually at 2.50pm. Unfortunately this is the only day available as you are down for Sabbatical the other 4 days.

Please also remember to study for it cause it is one of the 12 compulsory badges for Commissioner and Chief Commissioner Badge. For students who have lost the notes, the soft copy is available in the SJAB blog documents folder at the top left side. You just need to click on it and download the pdf file. You can then save on your phone to study.

You can pay the test fee of $1 to the YA heads when CCA resume on 21 May. Thank you

Please take note of the following updates:

1. There will be no GM this Friday due to MOE Excel Fest 2014. CCA will resume next Wednesday.
2. On a side note, those that involved in SOTA First Aid Duty(12/4/14) please remember to report at SOTA (Dhoby Ghaut next to Cathay) at the designated time with your materials. The morning slot will report at 9.15am and the afternoon slot at 12.45pm. Reporting venue is the first post. Attire is SJAB T shirt and track pants.
3. There are some vacancies for the CPR-AED Course on 19/4/14(8.45am to 1pm). For Sec 2s who are still interested in taking part, please text me by Friday 12pm. You will get a CPBS badge after passing the course.

FA Comp 2014 Stewards and Casualties

As you know, we will be having our annual Zone 3 First Aid and Home Nursing Competition soon. So for all the sec one and sec two non-comp team members, we would like you to come and support the competitors as stewards and casualties. This will be a good experience especially for the sec ones as you will get to see how the competition will be like.

Change of SANA Meet-up and End time (20 Mar Thu)

Dear Sec 1 and selected Sec 2s going for SANA course this Thursday 20 March,

As updated to you on Friday, the start time of the SANA course has been pushed back from 8.45am to 9.15am. The end time is also tentatively earlier at 4.30pm rather than 5pm.

As a result, please remember to meet at the following time:

1. For cadets who are meeting in school for the school bus to SANA, please meet Mrs Tan in school porch area at 8.20am, instead of the earlier stated time of 7.45am.
2. For cadets who are not taking the school bus and are going to SANA direct from home, please meet in SANA HQ before 9.15am, instead of the earlier stated time of 8.45am.

It will be a one way school bus as end time may be subjected to delays. Please bring some money for lunch as it is not provided.

Sec 2 and 3: Meet Mr Yong outside SJAB room at 2.30pm to collect equipment you need for self comp training. Sec 3s will also also a short CCA meeting with Mr Yong after that.

Sec 2 and 3 non comp team cadets can come to help prepare your peers for comp. However attendance for non comp team sec 2 and 3 only is not compulsory.

1.40 to 2.10pm: Go to Humanities Room for a short briefing on what to do for Total Defence Bronze project in Humanities room

2.10pm to 3.10pm: Lunch

3.10pm to 5.30pm: Continue with project and presentation.

2.40pm to 3.30pm: Meet in And.Art Computer lab for KOTO test.

CCA Open House attire

Hello all,

This Saturday is CCA open house and all of you will be required to wear full brigade with CPBS badges. (Regardless of whether you are a casualty for the display or not—you will have to change afterwards. We will tell you more next GM.) So as a gentle reminder please make sure your uniform is up to standard. 

1) Check how to pin CPBS badges properly. Pin them and your name tag on before wearing to avoid forgetting them. 

2) Remember to bring accessories like gloves, belt, socks and beret. 

3) Season beret well and make sure there are no white fibres.

4) Hair net and bun net for ALL nursings. 

5) Ambulance try to get your hair cut short if it's too long. No long sideburns. 

6) Unifrom must be clean and nicely ironed. 

7) Polish boots. 

I do not wish to see anyone forgetting any items on Saturday.

Promotion Test Results

Dear cadets, below are the results for the promotion tests taken during November camp. As I've already said on Friday, everyone has to retake the first aid theory test since almost all failed and the only pass is borderline. Other than that, you only retake the component(s) that you failed. The blanks in the table show that you were absent for that test, thus you still need to take it.

Do study hard for the retest, because the retest can be held any time in the next few weeks. A second failure may result in consequences.
