CPBS Kindness Gold Badge Course

Dear Sec 1 and 2 cadets,

You will be the pioneer batch to embark on a new CPBS Badge known as the Kindness Badge. Being the pioneer batch, this will be the only year you can bypass the Bronze and Silver Badge to participate in the Gold Badge.

To achieve the Gold Badge, you have to:
  • Prepare a community project in groups of 12 and below. We will grouping you based on the level. Sec 2s will be Group A and Sec 1s will be Group B. You can come up with a team name. It can be any name as long as the word "Anderson" or "St John" or "ASJAB" appears somewhere in your team name.
  • Identify a community problem in the area of culture, cyber wellness or neighborliness. Your project proposal should transmit kindness act to the community outside school. This is not a CIP project, i.e. visiting old folks home is not a kindness movement project. A easier way to brainstorm is to put yourself in the shoes of the Singa Lion. What acts of social graciousness should he be involved in?
  • Submit the project proposal to the teacher Mrs Kumar for vetting before 10 April (Week 3).
  • Once approved, this project will be submitted to the Singapore Kindness Movement before 30 April.
  • Execute and record your kindness community project (videos and photos). Submit a report on findings and reflections before 28 August.
  • The SKM will then grade the project and award the badge for successful submissions.
  • Good projects will be showcase in the SKM Kindness Day event on 13 November.
For sample ideas of completed projects by the Scouts or Girl Guides before 2015, you can go to kindness.sg/skf

For Sec 2s, you are eligible for additional funding by SKF of up to $1000 if you do require money for your project as there is a minimum age of 14 to be eligible. However, you have to write a report to justify this funding.

This project is a great opportunity to make a difference to the community in the area of social graciousness. The teachers will be giving you more details next week. In the meantime, you can brainstorm some ideas and visit the webpage. The slides for briefing are also available in the documents folder on the left of the blog.
