Updates and Vacancy for Cambodia Overseas Trip 30 Nov to 4 Dec

Dear cadets,

We will be issuing the final payment forms for the Phnom Penh overseas trip later this week. The final cost of the trip will be lower than $900. It will be between $755 to $855. The range is due to the need to wait for the our airline Silkair's confirmation on the final price and availability of seats. Hence, the dates are still subjected to change in the event the airline seats are unavailable.

There are still one to two vacancies left for this trip. If you are still interested and have not sign up yet, please inform Mr Yong before Monday 24 August. This is on a first come first serve basis as the slots are also open to the councillors and Guides. You also have to pay a deposit and submit the necessary documents by Tuesday if you indicate your interest before Monday. There is a $150 additional subsidy for students who are Singaporeans.

Please complete the submissions this weekend or Youth Day if possible. Cause there is still time for HQ to warn you for insufficient submission and for the system tends to break down on the day before submission. Hence. don't wait until the last day to upload.

No NDP First Aid Duty 25 July 2015

Dear Sec 2 and 3 cadets involved in NDP first aid duty,

Please note that the duty this week is cancelled. Reason is because we are the reserve school and there is over subscription among schools in zone 4.

The next and final duty will be on 9 august Sunday. Reporting time to hq will be 12.30pm. Attire will be full brigade without headdress and cpbs badges.

National First Aid Competition Competitors, Stewards and Supporters (Sunday 12 July)

Dear competitors, stewards and supporters of FA Comp,

The FA Competition will be held in Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Hall tomorrow (12 July). Our Ambulance Adult team led by Jovan and Nursing Adult team led by Claire will be competing against the top schools in Singapore.

We will be catering a one way 45 seater school bus to bring competitors, stewards and supporters to Ngee Ann Poly. The school bus will leave at 7.10am from school.

Attire for supporters will be just SJAB T shirt and shorts/pants/jeans.

The gate will only open from 6.20am.

Tasks

Before hosting:

1.     Ensure there are enough chairs in your respective classrooms for the Hong Kong students on Wednesday (can borrow additional chairs from school hall before Wednesday)

2.     Prepare gifts of not more than $5 per student attached to your class.

3.     Read up on the history of Anderson Secondary, St John Brigade and Anderson St John Brigade (refer to Anderson Portal and SJAB Blog for detailed history and values).

During hosting:

1.     Befriend them and look after their well beings during curriculum lessons from 8am to 12.30pm.

2.     Bring the students for recess to have an authentic experience of school life in Singapore. For Muslim students, you can share with them more about Ramadan (You can either ask St John students from other classes to bring them for recess or you can be the one to host them for recess too).

3.     Tell them more about the history/ culture of Singapore, St John Brigade and Anderson St John Brigade Corps.

4.     Learn more about education and school life in Hong Kong.

5.     You can ask them questions about St John in Hong Kong (for cadets attached to St John students).

6.  Return the additional school chairs you borrowed to the hall after hosting.
