Confirmation of VIA trip to Cambodia Pricing to Late July

Dear cadets who signed up for the Cambodia Trip,

The final price of the trip will only be known in late July. The reason is because MOE is in the midst of reviewing overseas trip procurement matters. Please inform your parents on this delay.

We will be collecting the final amount in late July once MOE procurement matters are finalised.

Thank you

Follow-up of the Water Ambassador Badge Project

Dear Sec 1 and 2 students who attended the water ambassador badge course in June, the post course project you need to pass will be the water advocate project. To do so, there are three options:

Option 1 - Singapore World Water Day Activities

Students are to work in teams to design a campaign or activity to commemorate and celebrate Singapore World Water Day in schools or various locations around Singapore.  Information on the event will be provided by PUB via St John HQ (CPB Committee).

The campaign, programme or activity reaches out to the community.  Activities can include writing a water pledge or raising awareness on the importance of water conservation and sharing of water saving tips.  For ideas, visit: http://www.singaporeworldwaterday.com/

At the end of the event, students will submit a group reflection (with photographs) on the activities conducted.

Option 2 - Service Learning  for Community Outreach
In a small group of not more than 4, conduct an outreach programme for participants to educate them about saving water.
The participants can be from the following groups of people:
- fellow students from the school (not from St John)
- primary school students (min. 20 students)

- family members / relatives
- community / religious groups
- charity beneficiaries
At the end of the activity, students will submit a group reflection (with photographs) on the activities conducted.

Option 3 - Be a Water Educator
Design a simple worksheet for a guided walk at reservoirs, ABC Waters or waterway.  The trail can be led by a small group of maximum 4 cadets.
The trail can be conducted for the following groups of people:
- fellow students from the school (not from St John)
- primary school students (min. 20 students)
- family members / relatives
- community / religious groups
- charity beneficiaries
Conduct the walk and create the worksheets for this activity.  The worksheet should cover the following:
- Brief history of the site
- Features of the site
- Biodiversity
- Human impact at the site
- Importance of keeping our reservoirs and waterways clean

At the end of the activity, students will submit a group reflection (with photographs) on the activities conducted.

RESOURCES
Teachers, officers and students can refer to the various resources to assist them in organsing activities in order to fulfill Part 2 of the badge programme:

Singapore World Water Day
- information about participating in the Singapore World Water Day

ABC Water Learning Trails
- Information on the various locations for students to conduct activities for the community

You can think about the project you are interested in first. You teachers will approach you when school reopens to brainstorm on the project to do.

Thank you
